Privacy Policy
Your right to privacy is very important. We understand that
when you choose to provide us with information about yourself,
you trust us to act in a responsible manner. We believe this
information should only be used to help us provide you with
better service. That's why we have put a policy in place to
protect your personal information. Below is a summary of our
policy.
What personal information do we collect?
In general, when you visit our website and access information
you remain anonymous. When we ask you for information, it
will be clear how this information is to be used. We will
not provide any of your personal information to other companies
or individuals without your permission. This includes, but
is not limited to, e-mail and physical addresses.
The
only situation where we will ask for personal information
is in conjunction with the commerce portion of our site. We
only ask for information necessary to complete the sales transaction.
Protecting Your Privacy
We will take appropriate steps to protect your privacy. Whenever
you provide sensitive information (for example, a credit card
number to make a purchase), we will take reasonable steps
to protect it, such as encrypting your card number. We will
also take reasonable security measures to protect your personal
information in storage. Credit card numbers are used only
for payment processing and are not retained for marketing
purposes.
We will not provide any of your personal information to other
companies or individuals without your permission. However,
we may need to provide your name and delivery address to third
parties that CarWashHQ.com uses for the purpose of delivering
items specifically ordered by you or on your behalf.
Our website may provide links to third party websites. Since
we do not control those websites, we encourage you to review
the privacy policies of these third party websites.
Use of Cookies
The carwash-headquarters.com website uses cookies. Cookies
enable us to provide you our commerce capability in the same
manner as many commerce-enabled websites. These cookies track
individual order information. If you choose to disable cookies
in your browser you can access our website, but you will be
unable to use a shopping cart or place your order online.
Safety
of Online Ordering
The cautious attitude many have toward purchasing items on-line
often comes from the natural reaction most of us have about
the "unknown." Entering a credit card number and pushing a "button"
on the screen seems to lack that level of personal interaction
most of us are used to even using our credit card by phone.
In practice, purchasing with a credit card on the Internet is
no different than purchasing a meal at a local restaurant. After
finishing your meal you hand the server your credit card. They
disappear for a few minutes, then return with the card and receipt.
A quick signature and you're on your way. Happens thousands
of times a day all over the world. What makes us comfortable
in this situation is trust. We may or may not trust the staff
itself, but we trust a business as a whole to not allow illegal
use of a credit card.
In either case the same questions could be asked?
- Where
does my number go?
- Who
has access to it?
- How
is it protected?
These are legitimate concerns; luckily the answers are really
quite simple. Let's assume you've selected all the items you
wish to purchase and added them to your shopping cart. What
happens next?
SECURE
ORDERING
Selecting the check out link
connects you to our secure server.
This is denoted in one of the following ways:
- Netscape
Navigator 4.xx: the open padlock in the lower left
corner of the display closes and the background around the
padlock turns from grey to yellow.
- Netscape
Navigator 6: the open padlock in the lower right
corner of the display closes.
- Internet
Explorer 5.xx: a closed yellow padlock appears in the lower
right corner of the display.
Okay, now the browser is using a secure server. What does "secure
server" mean? A secure server sends information to and from
your browser just like a regular server, except all the information
is scrambled up on one end and unscrambled on the other. The
server might send a page that starts with "Good morning!" You,
of course see "Good morning!" However, someone who somehow gains
access to this same information (which is itself unlikely) would
see something like *&DFNkjn(|&*(&vs#f^fj_*&
Pretty tough to make "Good morning!" out of that! This process
is called encryption
which means your browser and the server use a secret
code (called a key) that only they understand. What makes
this safe is that the code (key) is so complex that it
is completely impractical for anyone to attempt to break
it. A message using the latest technology, called 128-bit
encryption, would take an a very very long time to decode.
